Teen Accused Of Throwing Turkey Out Car Window Pleads Guilty

RIVERHEAD, N.Y. -- A teenager who threw a 20-pound turkey out the rear window of a car pleaded guilty Monday to assault and tearfully embraced the driver he critically injured, authorities said.

Ryan Cushing, 18, will serve six months in jail and five years probation as part of his plea agreement, said a spokesman for District Attorney Thomas Spota.

He pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree assault before Suffolk County Court Judge Barbara Kahn. If convicted of first-degree assault at trial, Cushing could have been sentenced to a maximum of 25 years
