Karla Homolika Death Pool website is closed.

Dave Homenuck no longer owns this URL and will no longer be able to threatenKarla's future security by allowing people to place bets on the date of her demise.

Dave Homenuck was the original webmaster who felt it was his civic duty to jeapordize the personal security of Karla Homolka upon her release in 2005. His vulgar website the Karla Homolka death pool, encouraged users to place bets on the date of her demise (but encouraged patrons not to kill her themselves as that would be cheating) and posted the email addresses of those who contacted him to protest the existance of such a website.

Upon learning of this site the Canadian Coalition Against The Death Penalty purchased the URL to prevent Mr. Homenuck and others like him from continuing to endorse the murder of Karla Homolka upon her release. Canada no longer has the death penalty and we'd like to keep it that way.

This page is operated as a public service by The CCADP.This endeavor has no affiliation with Karla Homolka, her family, legal team or supporters.

Here is an article that was in the Canadian news about the website:

KARLA SAFE 'NOWHERE'\WEB 'DEATH POOL' BYLINE: ALAN CAIRNS, TORONTO SUN

Karla Homolka's lawyer says a "Karla Homolka Death Pool" Internet site proves she's in danger of being murdered.

"More and more it is obvious that there's nowhere in Canada she will be safe," lawyer Marc Labelle said yesterday.

"She's not safe in any jail, that's for sure ... apparently the safest place for her is back in Joliette ... she has not had a problem there," said Labelle, who spoke with Homolka by telephone in a Saskatoon prison hospital cell Wednesday night.

The Karla Homolka Death Pool Web site, created by Dave Homenuck Jr., 23, of Fonthill, Ont., asks potential respondents to e-mail predictions of when Homolka will die.
"The winner will have eternal bragging rights and everybody else will have a nice warm feeling inside," says the pool site.

'KILLING IS WRONG'

One rule forbids "fixing the bet by killing her yourself -- this is not only illegal but you will forfeit your place as Karla Homolka Death Pool Champion. Remember, killing is wrong."

Homenuck, a political sciences graduate student, said he created the "novelty" site after reading a Toronto Sun story on Homolka's fears of being killed if she's paroled in July.

"When I read the article ... I wondered how long she would last if she was out ... the consensus is she wouldn't last a day.

"She did some pretty horrible things and she touched a lot of people around here."
Homenuck's site says the pool "does not condone vigilante acts or the killing of anyone" and the purpose of the site is "not to threaten Karla's life."

DEATH THREATS

But Labelle said Homenuck's site follows other Internet death threats and threats from prison inmates.

Homolka, 30, has served almost eight years of a 12-year sentence for aiding her ex-husband Paul Bernardo in the sex slayings of Kristen French, 15, and Leslie Mahaffy, 14, and the fatal drug rape of her younger sister Tammy, 15.

For six weeks, Homolka has undergone psychiatric assessment at the Regional Psychiatric Centre in Saskatoon. The assessment will determine whether Corrections Canada will release her in July at the two-thirds mark of her sentence or ask the National Parole Board to detain her until the end of her sentence in July 2005.

Homolka wants to return to Joliette until 2005 so she can formulate a safe release plan, said Labelle.

He said Corrections Canada has an "obligation" to make sure she "serves her time alive."
