Church endorses gay marriage

UCC Votes To Support Gay Marriage
by 365Gay.com Newscenter Staff

(Atlanta, Georgia) The General Synod of the United Church of Christ voted Monday to endorse same-sex marriage, making it the largest Christian denomination in the country to do so.

After debating the issue for about an hour, at the annual meeting in Atlanta, about 80 percent of the nearly 1,000 delegates voted to approve the resolution.

The vote is not binding on individual churches, but some delegates who voted against the measure said their churches may decide to leave the denomination.
