Charges indicate man sold cocaine within 1,000 feet of school.

BRIDGEWATER -- A township man has been charged with selling more than just frozen treats out of his ice cream truck.

Ozcan "John" Demirbulakli, 42, of Manville Boulevard used his Bridgeville Ice Cream truck to sell cocaine to customers across the county, Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne J. Forrest said.

Demirbulakli was arrested Monday after selling cocaine to an undercover detective at a BP gas station on Route 28 in Bound Brook -- the result of a monthlong sting authorities called "Operation Double Dip," Forrest said.

Demirbulakli also sold cocaine to undercover officers in Branchburg on two previous occasions this month, officials said.

He sold cocaine from the window of his ice cream truck to an undercover detective Aug. 3 at Dunkin' Donuts on Route 202 North and again Aug. 5 in the parking lot of Aroma on Industrial Parkway, Forrest said.

After his arrest, police searched Demirbulakli's home, where they found more than 11 grams of cocaine, a gram of crack cocaine, drug packaging and drug paraphernalia, including a scale, officials said.
