The art of WSJ illustrator Noli Novak

Noli Novak's instantly recognizable stipple portraits go a long way in giving The Wall Street Journal its distinctive look. Novak's also a clever collage artist, using torn out pieces of magazines to create watercolor like works of art.

She is also a rocker: --

Here is one of her songs: MP3: Obey (206k)
Try a little harder,
Using all your power a power
To fulfill the dark side of love.
Strapping on your badness
You're the queen of madness
Go ahead and show them
The dark side of love.
Your chains are chilling
Always unforgiving
Hitting on the right side,
The dark side of love
Moving like a goddess
You seem as if you're loveless
But everything you do is
Only for love.
Making them feel just like they should
Letting them beg, that feels so good
You're flattered to punish who was bad
They can not wait to hear you say
Obey!
