Worm spreads neo-Nazi spam in two languages | TheNewsTribune.com | Tacoma, WA

"A new twist on a computer worm is spewing neo-Nazi-tinged spam in English and German into inboxes.

The content: Most of the messages contain links to news stories with content that “smells of right-wing political rhetoric,” said Vincent Gullotto, vice president of McAfee Inc.’s anti-virus emergency response team. A small percentage contain links to a Web site that tries to infect visiting machines with the worm.

The message: One carried a German subject line “60 Years of Freedom: Who’s Celebrating?” referencing the end of World War II. Another read: “Honorable Action” and contained a link to the Web site of the NPD, Germany’s right-wing nationalist political party.

Where it came from: The e-mails were sent from computers infected with the Sober worm, which first showed up in 2003. The main purpose of this version seems to be to spread information rather than harm, Gullotto said.

What you should do: Recipients should delete the messages without opening them as a precaution."

Bizarre.
