[ King Spot by Philip T Knoist ] - online fantasy novel

About the book:

Our story is about a boy and the runaway circus dog who finds him. The dog then wins a radio call-in contest and is made King of the World. After his vanity invites disaster upon disaster on them, the dog finally surrenders his crown.
A snippet from the prologue:
"Welcome to our show, ladies and gentlemen," said the ringmaster. "She's beautiful. She's graceful. She'll make you wonder how you ever got along without her. Please give a large round of applause for... Princess Ariadne!"

In the ring rode Princess Ariadne on a giant white horse. The applause washed her like a waterfall, the kind into which men in barrels disappear. A glittering tiara rested on top of her bound hair. She was dressed in a pink leotard like a ballerina.

"Her beauty causes men to throw flowers at her feet," said the ringmaster, "and women to buy plates with her picture on them."

Princess Ariadne rose to her feet, standing on the back of her horse.

"Her horse, August, has killed a barber, a tax collector, and a Gypsy palm reader... a
n untamable man-killer, until the princess soothed him with her touch."

A nifty, kid-friendly fantasy story, all 43 chapters are online.
