Boing Boing: LA Times: Pedophilia Linked with Star Trek?

I would like to suggest that this could be more a result of methods and procedures than on Trekkies (Trekkers!?!? Bah, not when I was growin' up, whippersnappers!). I would think the propensity for Trek-lovers to collect paraphernalia that's relatively recognizable might be one of the reasons they're currently high on this list.

Another distinct possibility is that a significant portion of the search team may be fans and therefore more sensitized to picking up those 'inside' info bits that pervade the Trek fanbase. This implies people from other highly developed fanbases may also be able to recognize other clues that slip by.

And, let's not forget that it could just be a statistically meaningless blip, and the next batch will be random, or Dittoheads, or whatever.
